HOMESTEAD COLLECTIVE IS ENVISIONED
Caitlyn realized upon writing music and playing shows, that she wanted to create something more intentional and community-oriented than solely writing music, touring, and playing shows. “Homestead Collective” was born with a double meaning: the name of the indie-folk duo that is Caitlyn Deviney & Ben Morris, and the name of the community organization founded and intended to celebrate music and art through continual gatherings.
HOMESTEAD GATHERINGS BEGIN
Caitlyn & Ben began hosting monthly gatherings out of their housemates home that included potlucks and creative sharing time. Musicians, artists, poets, writers, wood burnings, film/video, body paintings, and spoon-carving were just some of the many forms of art and music shared in a brave, safe space among new strangers becoming friends.
SONGWRITING WORKSHOPS & RETREATS
In January 2018, Caitlyn & Ben gauged interest for putting together an afternoon songwriting workshop that included a panel of songwriters, time to co-write and work in small groups on specific “in-progress” songs, and an open-mic time. September of that same year, they organized a retreat of 8 other friends and musicians from Gettysburg, Connecticut and the Philadelphia region to spend a weekend at a house in the Poconos writing, hiking, eating, hanging out together and being inspired by the company of each other.
LIVING ROOM SESSIONS BEGIN
Homestead Collective includes collaborative projects, which Caitlyn & Ben created with Ripe Creation Media to bring to life The Living Room Sessions. Once a month, they would bring an artist to the living room to collaborate on one of the artist’s original songs. Dan and Matt of Ripe Creation filmed the project, and Ben recorded and mixed audio. All currently published LRS can be found on YouTube.
THE GARDEN ROOM
Backyard Concert Series
In 2018, Caitlyn & Ben began hosting backyard concerts under the stars, curating shows that included two different bands that complimented each other’s sound. Guests brought their own lawn chair or blanket and it was BYOB. The event was equipped with lights, sound, and plenty of snacks. They’ve had the great privilege of having acts such as Gungor, The Hunts, ATLYS, Joy Ike, Marielle Kraft, The Hollands, and Joshua Howard.
HOMESTEAD COLLECTIVE TRAVELS TO GUATEMALA WITH FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY
Caitlyn + Ben share their experience being in Guatemala, poverty, the impact FH is making in communities all over the globe, the experience of meeting Estaurdo, the 16-year-old they sponsor for the first time, and their thankfulness to be a piece of the big picture of FH.

HOMESTEAD COLLECTIVE SIGNS LEASE FOR NEW SPACE
Lease has been signed for a new space for a music venue and creative space in Glenside, PA
Many many hours of labor – blood, sweat and tears from friends, family, and Caitlyn & Ben themselves were poured into this venue to carry out a vision of urban rustic design meeting a clean, warm atmosphere.
Caitlyn & Ben describe their vision for opening The Homestead and invite their community to crowdfund $5,000 to offset costs.

The response from the community was incredible – so much so that they created a stretch goal of $7,000 (which was reached), and then a second stretch goal of $10,000, which, by the end, was surpassed by over $1,000.
